September’s focus is on cleansers. These are the cleansers that I alternate between depending on the condition of my skin and the amount of makeup I have to remove. Let me know in the comments what cleansers you recommend!

St Ivie’s Apricot Scrub- Blemish Control

Frequency
3-4 times a week. Usually in the mornings.

How I use it
I like to wet my hands with warm water and add a dollop of the scrub into my fingertips. Yes, this is a scrub but it most definitely cleanses my skin. I use the palm of my hand to really exfoliate my skin, focusing around my nose, chin and forehead. Rinse off and pat dry.

Review
I have been using this product for years and it does a great job at prepping my skin for moisturizer and makeup. I am acne -prone so this product does a good job at minimising them. It has salicylic acid in it which removed dead skin cells and unclogs pores. The only struggle is rinsing out all the scrub around my hairline. I know when I have missed some when I slap on my moisturizer.

Shop
In NZ you can find it in most supermarkets, department stores and Pharmacies. To find out where it may be stocked in your area check out St Ives website.

Clarins Gentle Cleansing Foam- With Tamarind

Frequency
6-7 days a week, Once a day.

How I use it
I bought this product solely to remove my makeup at night time. I wet my hands with warm water and lather the product in my hands. It is gentle enough to do my whole face, including my eyes.

Review
It serves its purpose in getting all of my foundation and eyeshadows off. However, waterproof mascara is a bit harder to remove so I follow up with eye-makeup remover. It does not overdry my skin and it does a great job at making my skin feel fresh and clean.

Shop
Mostly I buy in duty-free but I can also stock up for a decent price at StrawberryNet.

Proactiv- Renewing Cleanser

Frequency
4-5 times a week, in the shower.

How I use it
Technically, I have done a review on these products but it is one of my “go to” cleansers. I always use it in the shower because of all the active ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide and the very tiny exfoliating beads. I feel that in the shower is washes the product completely off after use.

Review
Love it! It is my saviour in terms of keeping my skin clear and it doubles up as a cleanser and a scrub. When used by itself (not with the toner) it does not over dry my skin.
